If you have any questions for us, whether it’s about the services we offer or the cost of your care, our dental team near Arlington Heights is always just a phone call away. That said, we know it isn’t always possible to get on the phone. So, we’ve answered some FAQs here!
How do I find the best place to get dental work done?
Oftentimes, patients start with Google. We recommend a different first step: pinpointing what’s important to you as a patient. Are you looking for a talented cosmetic dentist in Arlington Heights to help you transform your smile? Are you looking for a dental office that welcomes adults and children so you can get all of your family’s dental needs taken care of under one roof? Once you know the answers to questions like these, you can look around online or ask friends, family members, and neighbors for their recommendations.
What level of education is required to be a dentist?
The road to becoming a dentist involves 7+ years of schooling! The first step is obtaining an undergraduate degree (usually with very high grades and in a major that’s heavy in math and science). Then, they must be accepted to an accredited dental school and complete 3 years of extensive in-classroom and hands-on training to earn their dental doctorate.
Even after they’ve earned their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree, they must complete continuing education hours each year to maintain their license. Some dentists also choose to pursue advanced training in certain treatments. For example, Dr. Ernie Costello underwent training in modern endodontic (root canal) treatment!
How do I get emergency dental care?
That depends on if you’re experiencing any potentially life-threatening symptoms, like uncontrollable bleeding or trouble breathing. If that’s the case, then you should call 911 or head to the ER. If that’s not the case, then you should call us ASAP. Since we offer morning, lunchtime, evening, and weekend appointments, there’s a good chance that one of our talented dentists will be able to provide the pain-relieving restorative care you need the same day.
What do you do if you can't afford a dentist?
If you have any concerns about the cost of your care, don’t hesitate to let us know! After all, we’re proud to offer several solutions, including our In-House Dental Membership Plan. We’d be happy to provide you with further details, answer any questions you have, and help you get the dental care you need at a price you can afford.
Important reminder: Many common dental problems, including cavities, only get worse if left untreated. So, taking the “wait and see” approach won’t benefit your smile or your wallet. The best thing to do is schedule an appointment with us when you first notice that something is wrong, like it hurts to bite down. That way, we can diagnose and treat the root of the problem while it’s still relatively minor.
